“Bringing together over 90 works, the artists in this exhibition explore concepts of place and the role of the photographer as storyteller. The evolution of ‘landscape’ photography is demonstrated, from location specific works in the 1970s, to recent works that draw on the frictions between nature, culture and history. The exhibition also traces innovative developments in photographic techniques, including montage, Instamatic and Polaroid works of the 1970s, series from the 1980s and contemporary work focusing on the detail and the intimacies of the local.”
