Public lecture 7: Gregory Crewdson

One of the most important and influential contemporary photographic artists worldwide, Gregory Crewdson is the seventh in our inagural Image Studies Lecture Series. Best known for his disquieting images of suburban life, Crewdson works within a photographic tradition that combines the documentary style of William Eggleston and Walker Evans with the dream-like vision of filmmakers such as David Lynch.
We are thrilled to host the event and to provide our students with a rare opportunity to interact with Mr. Crewdson. This event embodies our goal of creating unique engagements with leading figures in photography from Australia and abroad.

Public lecture 6: Liza Statton
“Betwixt & Between: Niceties and Deviltry in Contemporary Video Art”
Liza Statton is an independent curator based in Texas and Australia. From 2008-2010, Ms. Statton served as the Gallery Director/Curator at Artspace located in New Haven, CT, nearby Yale University, where she organized solo and group exhibitions that included emerging artists living and working in the Eastern United States. Recent curatorial projects include investigations into contemporary video art in Betwixt & Between (2010); the exploratory practice of NY-based artist William Lamson in Time is Like the East River (2009), and artists as inventors in The Weekend Inventor (2009).
